Awards 2020
We are honored by the significant recognition accorded to our patent and trademark teams by Managing Intellectual Property (MIP), World Trademark Review (WTR) and Intellectual Asset Management (IAM). Our continued success would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of our beloved People of Henry Goh.
We are also deeply humbled by the unstinting support and continuous vote of confidence from our clients and our IP peers worldwide. We believe that it is the warm camaraderie and the strong ties of friendship amongst the global IP family that will enable all of us to emerge stronger from this season.
The annual awards for the global IP fraternity kicked off in March this year with the announcement of the IP Stars 2020: Trademark Firm Rankings by MIP and recently concluded with MIP’s announcement of the IP Stars 2020: Patent Firm Rankings.
We are pleased to announce that MIP has ranked Henry Goh in Tier 1 for both patent and trademark prosecution in Malaysia for the twelfth consecutive year. Our leading IP professionals, Dave A Wyatt, Azlina Aisyah Khalid and Oon Yen Yen, also continue to be recognized as IP Stars by MIP.
2020 concludes a golden decade of excellence for Henry Goh’s trademark team as they have been accorded Gold Band status in the WTR’s guide to the world’s leading trademark professionals, WTR 1000, for the tenth year. Our firm is the sole IP agency in Malaysia to achieve Gold Band status since inception of this publication. Azlina, Sau Yin and Eng Leong have also earned WTR’s recognition as Recommended Individuals.
The most prestigious IP agency in Malaysia, Henry Goh & Co is distinguished by the top-notch quality of work, as well as by “lightning responsiveness and superb cost-effectiveness”. As a result of highly targeted, annual business development trips to East Asian countries since 2017, Henry Goh has substantially bolstered its clientele and network of Chinese and Japanese associates. Senior legal counsel Azlina Aisyah Khalid heads the prosecution practice with poise. A dab hand at pre-litigation advice, she is highly respected for her ability to straddle large caseloads of trademark opposition work. Trademark manager and business development strategist Eng Leong Lim is a smooth negotiator who often reaches win-win solutions on enforcement and infringement issues. General manager Sau Yin Tham is the senior trademark attorney in the team; her experience ensures the faultless operation of the prosecution practice.
The outstanding work of Henry Goh’s patent team continues to be recognized by IAM in their IAM Patent 1000 guide to the world’s leading patent professionals, where once again, they have been accorded IAM’s “Highly Recommended Firm” status. Firms accorded the “highly recommended status” are distinguished from their peers by IAM due to the “significantly greater positive feedback” garnered during the five-month long research process. IAM has also recognized Dave, Yen, Jason and Alvin as Recommended Individuals.
Few would dispute Henry Goh’s dominant position among Malaysian IP agencies; recently it has been on the receiving end of increased interest in its infringement analyses and expert opinions. Armed with a degree in microbiology and an LLM, Yen Yen Oon is a highly sought-after patent manager among biotech and chemistry clients. With in-house and private practice experience in the United Kingdom and Germany, Dave A Wyatt is perennially attuned to the needs of international corporates and global patent trends; his chosen field is electronic and electrical engineering. In mechanical engineering, Alvin Boey has an especial focus on agricultural machinery and plant electromechanical devices, water and wastewater treatment and medical devices. Design manager and senior patent agent Jason Cheah is the right choice for mechanical and internet-related inventions.
