About Andrew Siew
A registered Malaysian patent agent, industrial design agent and trademark agent, Andrew Siew’s hands-on knowledge of computers and engineering coupled with his ability to communicate in both spoken and written Chinese make him invaluable to the Patent Department at Henry Goh.
Andrew’s work at the firm involves advising local and foreign clients on IP protection, conducting searches, drafting and prosecution of applications for patents and industrial designs. He also provides patentability, infringement and validity opinions on granted patents and utility innovation certificates and assists with translating and interpreting Chinese in correspondence and meetings.
His patent drafting experience includes electronics and IT-related inventions, such as photovoltaic power systems and blockchain cryptography. His up-to-date knowledge on current technologies allows him to better communicate and understand inventors, facilitating the drafting process.
He has provided numerous infringement opinions and conducted freedom-to-operate searches for both local and foreign clients across a variety of technology disciplines.
As a technology specialist in his own right, Andrew leads the High Technology, Electrical and Electronics technology group in Henry Goh’s Patent Department. He often serves as an important technology reference point for colleagues and clients alike.
Andrew joined the firm in 2002 and holds an honours degree in electronic and electrical engineering from The University of Lincoln, Kingston-upon-Hull, United Kingdom.
He has been recently ranked by IAM Patent 1000 as a Recommended Individual for his expertise in Malaysian patent prosecution.
