Brunei - Law and Practice Updates

Dear Clients and Associates

An Update on our Operations during the Covid-19 Pandemic

The Malaysian government has issued a directive that employees in the public and private sector, that are currently subject to a Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), shall work from home. The directive takes effect on 22 October 2020 and will remain in force for the remainder of the duration of the CMCO. The CMCO is currently in effect in Kuala Lumpur up to and including 27 October 2020 and may be extended if necessary.

In the light of this development, the entire workforce of our Malaysian office has been mobilized to work from home starting Thursday 22 October 2020 until further notice. Rest assured that we shall continue to deliver our full range of professional services and our business hours are unchanged.

All instructions and communication must be sent via email, including electronic versions of critical documents (preferably in the form of colour scans). We request that you refrain from sending documents by mail or courier until the present directive is lifted.

MyIPO remains operational. We shall make full use of electronic filing wherever available. However, this is not possible for all classes of work and is subject to system availability. Since the manual filing counters of MyIPO’s head office in Kuala Lumpur will open for only limited hours, we encourage our clients and associates to continue to send their instructions well in advance of any deadline.

Our first priority is the health and safety of all our staff, clients and suppliers. Despite the challenges, we remain committed to providing best-in-class service.

Thank you for your continued patience, understanding and support. It is deeply appreciated. We extend our warm wishes that everyone stays safe and healthy.

Yours truly

Karen Goh
Managing Director
