Team HG recently hosted Connect 1.0 at Colony Q Sentral on 21 November 2019 to Meet · Eat · Engage · Drink with IP owners and entrepreneurs.

The interactive Connect session was centered around the new Trademarks Act 2019. A topic of particular interest was the introduction of provisions in the new Act relating to the Madrid Protocol. Malaysia recently became the 106^th member of the Protocol concerning the International Registration of Marks, which will enter into force on 27 December 2019.

Colony’s Parisian-themed salon provided a vibrant setting eminently suited to convivial group discussions about the impending changes to local trademark practice. Numerous cozy intimate corners located throughout Colony’s 15,000 square feet space were also ideal for pockets of quiet tête-à-tête for attendees who preferred more in-depth discussions with members of our Team HG to strategize on how best their businesses could benefit from the upcoming legal changes.

The attendees had an enjoyable time gaining helpful IP tips and connecting with each other and Team HG over delicious pastries and fragrant cups of coffee. Those firmly in the grips of Malaysia’s current bubble tea mania also had their mid-afternoon boba cravings satisfied by refreshing cups of the signature Brown Sugar Boba Milk from Tiger Sugar (老虎堂) .

Overall, the warm hospitality and open insightful sharing by our Team HG contributed to a memorable and enjoyable productive afternoon for all attendees.

Following from the overwhelmingly positive response to Connect 1.0, the inaugural session in our HG Connect series, Team HG is looking forward to hosting more Connect sessions throughout the Klang Valley in the coming year.
