Team Building in Historic Melaka

The People of Henry Goh came together for a two-day team building programme in the historic city of Melaka that offered an opportunity to strengthen working relationships, develop new skills and enjoy a memorable experience beyond the office environment.

Participants were divided into six cross-departmental teams and took part in a series of indoor activities designed to encourage strategic planning, effective communication, creative thinking and problem-solving. Each challenge required team members to exchange ideas, make decisions together and approach tasks from different perspectives.

The highlight was the Heritage Hunt through the heart of Melaka. Toiling under the hot afternoon sun, the teams explored the historic city, solved puzzles relating to its history, searched for clues and visited several well-known landmarks.

The designated route, which was approximately 3.5 – 4 kilometres, took participants from the hotel to the iconic red buildings at Dutch Square, up to St Paul’s Church, through the lively streets around Jonker Walk and back to the hotel. The mileage excluded detours required to locate clues and completing some of the challenges.

Despite the heat, everyone approached the hunt with enthusiasm and determination. The planned activity tested not only physical endurance, but also teamwork, communication, observation and the ability to think outside the box.

On the second day, there were additional activities introduced by the facilitators before the programme was concluded with reflections and a final acknowledgement session. The team that placed first was Dink Donk (yes, that was the name they gave themselves) who performed impressively throughout the weekend. All the teams were celebrated, nevertheless.

More than a simple break from our daily routines, the shared experiences were timely to remind the People of Henry Goh on the importance of effective teamwork and collaboration. The excursion ended on a high note, which will remain as a beautiful memory and a meaningful experience for Team HG, one that strengthened connections among colleagues across the Firm.
